When vacationing in the Smoky Mountains consider taking advantage of the transit system that services Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville, Tennessee. The Gatlinburg Trolley and the Pigeon Forge Fun Time Trolleys are a fun and easy way to travel around the cities from one attraction to another.
You can board the Trolleys anywhere that you see a Street Trolley sign or Trolley Shelter. The Trolleys cycle continuously during operating hours and your wait is rarely more than just a few minutes. There are over 100 Trolley stops located in Gatlinburg alone and about the same number in Pigeon Forge making it very tempting to just park the car and ride to wherever you want to go.
The Trolleys and Trolley Routes are color coded and you can pick up free maps of the Trolley Routes at any of the visitor centers throughout the area. You can also identify each Trolleys destination by the signs on the front and side. Fares can range from 25 cents to $2.00 depending on where you are going. The Trolley drivers accept exact change or you can purchase tokens from the Pigeon Forge Dept of Tourism or the Trolley office.
The Trolleys offer convenient access to shops, lodging and attractions throughout the area. You can travel all around Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge exploring the area. You can also go from one city to the other. In addition to servicing the main parkways and downtown areas the Trolleys travel to key attractions like Dollywood, Splash Country, The Great Smoky Mountains Arts & Crafts Community, Laurel Falls Parking Area and Sugarlands Visitor Center just to name a few.
Most of the trolleys are equipped with lifts to accommodate wheelchairs and trolley drivers can even call for a van equipped with a special lift if needed.
When you arrive in the Smokies why not just relax and ride the Trolley? The Gatlinburg Park-N-Ride lot is located next to City Hall on East Parkway and in Pigeon Forge you can park your car and board the Trolley at Patriot Park. One of the best things about riding the Trolley is that you can leave the driving to someone else allowing you to take in all that the area has to offer along the way.
